​LEED is an Internationally Recognized, Green Building Certification Program.

LEED provides third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at stewardship of resources and improved performance, energy savings, water efficiency, and indoor environmental quality, along with carbon emissions reduction.

The Flats are being certified under the LEED for Homes rating system. Because of the third-party review, LEED ratings are like a seal of approval that demonstrates that efficient techniques and features have been incorporated.

The entire, 16-acre PCM site, 2.1 million-square-foot building has been renovated, rebuilt and landscaped to provide a healthier environment, so you can breathe easy.

What does it means that Ponce City Market is LEED Certified?
Just a Few Reasons:

  • Walk-ability. Our landmark building in Old Fourth Ward is directly on the Atlanta Beltline—the 22-mile green corridor for pedestrians—and within 1/2-mile of public transit service, retail shops and offices, and four parks.

  • Water-saving features include dual-flush toilets, and 1.5 GPM (gallon per minute) faucets and showers in the Flats at Ponce City Market—the high performance fixtures use 32% less water.

  • PCM air ducts are installed "tighter" than average, resulting in less air-leakage and better air quality. Also, PCM is a smokey-free environment, and outdoor air is pre-conditioned before circulating inside.

  • In "LEED-speak," that means an important combination of recycled content and cultural capital have been built into the project. For residents, it means living in a historic building that's been carefully and mindfully restored.

  • PCM supports alternate transportation options by providing over 400(!) bicycle parking spaces and a bicycle valet service.

    In the secure bike cage, there is a fix-it station to keep your bike in tip-top shape.
